It was two sizes to big but I remembered it was Nate’s gig so I wanted to buy it and save it as a memento. Dibi: When I sit and try to conjure up highs and lows, it seems a bit difficult as there are degrees of both. Everyone’s healthy, which is the best. I know that sounds trite but looking back over the years of huge dramatic injuries, addictions and all the other hardships families go through, perhaps something we seem to take for granted is the greatest highlight. I try not to dwell on the lows and there were a few that were very difficult, but with the passing of time, they seem to fall into the makeup of who we are… part of the life process. I hope I can live up to my expectations and that’s the best I can do for this year and all the ones I’ll be lucky enough to experience.

Dibi: I try never to take things for granted, and I’m surprised every time I answer questions that people care what I think. I’m not sure if “flattered” would be the word I’d choose; I think grateful seems to be a better fit for how I feel. Bruce is a great surfer and so is Nathan, so I see no problem in looking up to both of their surfing talents. They’re great friends to each other, and inspire one another, how cool for both of them.

Dibi: I’m not so great with names out of thin air; it took me a couple of weeks to name Nathan. I felt I needed to get to know him before I threw a name on him that he’d have to live with forever. So, I’m afraid I’m not sure what I’d name a girl.

Got a drug test coming? I thought it had a two week window? I beleive there’s all sort of things that you can get at the health food stores or online that are supposed to clean the system, but I’ve never had to use anything so I have no idea what to recommend.

Dibi: Yes, they both were in the NSSA. Christian was kicked-out when he did a clothing ad for Stussy, and Nathan wanted to go to Metallica’s Monsters of Rock concert instead of the Nationals in Texas. So I guess it was shades of things to come.

There were times when I just crumbled to the floor but I lived with the hope that they’d “come around” eventually and they have! Reading about you and your family has made me feel so “human” and though there are still struggles on a daily basis in my own life, I truly feel a maternal kinship with you. DEAR CHRISTIAN…

I’ve been getting a lot of emails and messages from people all over the world. Most of these people just want to say “hi” and get all nostalgic and stuff. But a lot of people have also been randomly writing me and asking me for advice. Haha. How funny is that? Me, Christian Fletcher, giving advice to people as if I were “Dear Abby”.

But that gave me the idea to go with it. Why not? Why would my opinions and advice be any less valid than some old biddy who writes for the paper? These people who are writing me aren’t asking for a RIGHT answer. They’re just asking me for MY answer. And if that’s what they want, that’s what I’ll give them.

So if there are any of you out there who want an honest opinion or a thought from a third party source, hit me up on here. Ask whatever ails ya. You may not like what I have to say but, come on, you knew what you were getting into with me.

Below are just some of the questions I’ve been getting and that I thought should be addressed. I cut and pasted the messages as is so don’t blame me for the writing errors and typos. I can’t help it that some of my readers are semi-retarded.

Well I’ve always lived with the motto, fuck the world before it fucks you. This world is all about the good, the bad, and the ugly and sometimes you feel stuck in a rut and can’t dig yourself out and other times, it’s like, fuck it. I’m over it. I’m gonna live life to the fullest and nothing’s gonna stop me. But I do believe there’s a time and place for everything. I’m older now and I see that more clearly now. But, hey, it’s super early in the morning for me now and I can’t really give you a solid answer. I’m hungry. Do you like breakfast burritos?

Hey Rudolofo,

You have a weird name. It makes me laugh. Haha. Rudolofo. Not Rudolf but Ru-do-lof-o. Hahahahahahahaha. It’s not easy to pronounce, either. Do a slight change to your name by going with Rudolfo instead of Rudolofo. Or better yet, just change your name to Hal.
