Speak Up And Be Heard Bitch

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

Got myself a camera and gonna start rolling with it. Film, record and interview everyone who crosses my path and ask them what’s up. Should make for interesting commentary on the current state of affairs. What do you guys think? Me asking the mailman about the philosophies of Buddha. Or going to get a burrito and asking the guy behind the counter what the mystery meat is…is that donkey or rat? Doesn’t matter. Everything tastes good with Tapatio. Or asking some ratty grom how the surf was at Creek. You know, stuff like that.

Fuck, I’m a people person when it comes down to it. I dig meeting people from all walks of life. I hope I get some raw, funny, honest and even gnarly coverage. Have you ever been approached by a peg-legged drunken dwarf? I have. And I’m bummed I didn’t have the opportunity to record and save the conversation I had with her. Yeah, her. She was so rad. Drunk and angry but rad nonetheless.

I’ll interview my friends. Chat it up with some pros. In fact, my mom is interviewing Danny Fuller today for a magazine. I’ll do some stuff like that, too. I’ll fucking ask these guys what most people wanna hear but are afraid to ask. It’s such a delicate world we live in, you know.

But I’ll do it in a more casual manner. Just shoot and film candid conversation. It wouldn’t be all fucking journalistic with a bunch of thought-out questions and answers. I ain’t the fucking Journal of New England Medicine with essays and analytical reports. Stuff like that gets stale quick so don’t expect that here. It’s easy to say to expect the unexpected when it comes to anything I’m involved with. Is that too cliche? Fuck you. I don’t care.

I just want to always make things fun and interesting. It’d be a lot more random to go down to Trestles and catch someone off-guard and ask them if they’ve ever given their chick a dirty sanchez than asking them, “Duuuude, how are the waves?”

Yeah.

Getting Creepy

Monday, January 4th, 2010

So someone recently asked me if I got scared from some of the fans I have. She thought some of them were a little extreme and she thought some were downright creepy. There have definitely been some weird people. But it takes a lot to really scare me and, for the most part, people have been really cool and funny.

There are so many different kinds of people out there. Some people who hate my guts. Haha. I mean really, really FUCKING HATE me to death. And probably justifiably so. There are people who want me to find salvation through Jesus Christ. How do you respond to something like that? Thanks? No thanks?

There are people who have told me they used to be my babysitter when I was a kid…only thing is, I only had one babysitter my entire life so that kinda bunks their theory. There are people who think that I’m some kind of millionaire and could just hook them up with different kind of product 24/7. There are little kids who have only heard of me because of their parents - who are now my age. I’ve met girls who try to act all cute and flirtatious but fuck…as soon as they open their mouths, I just want to escape somewhere. I’ll meet people who will ask me if I remember them from 1987, at some skate park, that he was the one wearing the high-top Vision sneakers and had the pink Gator board. Uh…yeah. And I’m not writing this to be condescending or act like I’m so above everyone that I just didn’t have the time to remember you. Nah. It was more like, well, haha, I was probably faded at the time and so those days all seem hazy to me now.

I’ve met a lot of great people. A lot of people overseas. The Japanese are always stoked. So are the Spanish. And, of course, I’m always stoked too when I meet someone who’s genuinely happy to just talk and say what’s up. How cool is that? And I’m grateful to all of you who are always throwing out compliments and who have always been supportive since Day 1.

I started Facebook less than two months ago and it’s grown to over 6,000 friends/fans. That’s pretty cool. I’m hoping the people who are checking out my Facebook and commenting on my page there will also trickle over here to my website. I’m still getting used to this whole networking thing but it’s been kinda fun trying to learn the ropes by getting involved with those who are helping me on my site and Facebook, etc.

So, anyway, that’s all for now. I’m going to try and write and keep things updated here at least two or three times a week. But if you see a long lag every now and then…well…that probably means the surf’s been good.

Later.
